There are 30,000 American children waiting for a mentor, according to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the national organization devoted to matching mentors (“Bigs”) to children (“Littles”).   The Arby’s Foundation is helping sound the call for Bigs with a new TV spot called “The Big Wait” which is running as a public service announcement for the next six months on cable and digital channels including AMC, USA, FOX, Discovery and Hulu. 

The brand transformation, including a new logo, new colors, and new messaging, is part of a multi-part strategy by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America to build the foundation that will enable the organization to recruit more volunteers to become mentors (“Bigs”) to youth (“Littles”) in their communities. The organization is upgrading its nationwide technology for tracking programs and mentoring relationships (“matches”), investing in training for staff, leaders, parents, and volunteers, in addition to undergoing this brand transformation.

Each year, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America honors the top corporate partners and individual leaders who make significant contributions to help the organization serve children by matching them in impactful mentoring relationships with caring adult volunteers. During the 2018 National Conference Awards Gala presented by Comcast NBCUniversal and held on June 28, BBBSA honored Alan J. Bernon, Gary Moore, the Federated Insurance Companies, and the S.D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation.

The Board of Directors of the nation’s oldest and largest mentoring organization has elected the CEO of WellCare Health Plans, Inc., Kenneth A. Burdick, to serve as Board Chair and has added two new Board members: Jeff Fetters, the Chairman and CEO of Federated Insurance, and Robert Sanchez, the Chairman and CEO of Ryder System, Inc.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of America recognized six exceptional Affiliates on June 28 during its Annual National Conference. These affiliates have demonstrated outstanding leadership and have increased the number of children they serve in their communities. These affiliates have all made key strategic decisions that have allowed them to innovate and grow over the past year.
