The Mentoring Specialist (MS) is responsible for interviewing, assessing, matching and supporting the volunteers and children that are matched in the one-to-one mentoring program. The MS will ensure child safety, promote positive impacts for youth, foster constructive and satisfying relationships between children and volunteers, and cultivate a strong sense of affiliation with Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles on the part of the volunteers.
The primary function of this position is to find the best match for volunteers and children and then support those matches in accordance with Big Brothers Big Sisters’ standards.
Lead, supervise and support a team of Enrollment and Match Support Specialist to assure and facilitate quality, efficient enrollment and matching of families and volunteers in our 1:1 mentoring programs. Serve as an active member of the BBBS Management team providing thought leadership on all activities of the organization, not limited to the E & M department.
Responsible for overall quality & capacity building Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of all program direct services through an ongoing process of program & staff development, supervision, monitoring, and evaluation. Responsible for developing programs aligned with the organization’s vision, mission & strategic plan. Assist with the program orientation & development of Board members. Key member of management team.

This position is responsible for providing high-level customer service throughout the implementation of the volunteer and child enrollment and matching process in accordance with the Big Brother Big Sister brand and volunteer options. The successful incumbent will produce positive outcomes in the following areas: volunteer yield and processing time; youth yield; youth/parent processing time, and new match goals.
This position is responsible for responsible for providing match support for our Sync program, which serves youth ages 14-21 who are in or aging out of foster care. This includes facilitating match meetings, assisting with planning and implementing match activities, maintaining relationships with the Independent Living staff, and attending Foster Youth retreats and Independent Living classes as needed. The position is also responsible for providing other direct service delivery based on the needs of the local office.
For this position, the successful candidate will also coordinate our high-quality, after school mentoring program. This involves creating activity curricula, managing high school mentors, teaching leadership skills, and nurturing long-lasting match relationships, while working closely with school and after- school personnel.
