NFL Athletes, Musicians and Actors Support Big Brothers Big Sisters of America

Antonio Brown, Lavonte David, LeToya Luckett and Eric Hutchinson Join 2016 BIG Champion Team

Tampa, Fla. (June 30, 2016) — Big Brothers Big Sisters of America has welcomed four new “BIG Champions,” celebrity ambassadors who will help the organization in its mission to match more children across the United States with a caring adult mentor. The new 2016 BIG Champions are Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Lavonte David of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, LeToya Luckett, a singer/songwriter who is a former member of Destiny’s Child, and Eric Hutchinson, singer/songwriter.

All BIG Champions have a passion for mentorship. Like many BIG Champions, Antonio Brown, who first got involved through Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Greater Pittsburgh, credits his success to a mentor who believed in and encouraged him. “With organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters, kids are able to connect, learn from and be inspired by others in the community,” Brown said.

Lavonte David and LeToya Luckett supported their local Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies, BBBS of Tampa Bay and Houston BBBS, before becoming involved on a national level. “It is important for me to give back to as many children in my community as possible, and one of the best ways to do that is to help those children be matched with strong adult role models,” David said.

Eric Hutchinson has family involved in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, and he has been a steadfast supporter, offering concert tickets and experiences for volunteer mentors and their mentees, called Bigs and Littles.

These new BIG Champions join Big Brothers Big Sisters of America’s current celebrity ambassadors, including actor and musician Jamie Foxx, MSNBC anchor Kate Snow, and actor Ryan Potter, star of “Big Hero 6.”

“These BIG Champions will educate and inspire people who may not have realized the impact Big Brothers Big Sisters has on children’s lives across the country,” said Pam Iorio, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

BIG Champions are Big Brothers Big Sisters of America’s celebrity ambassadors. On a national stage, they will assist with raising awareness, inspiring people to become mentors or participate in activities, and boosting fundraising. To learn more, visit BBBS.org/BIGChampions.
